PrivilegesThe instructor rating allows the holder to instruct ab initio students though to commercial candidates under the supervision of a Class 1 or 2 instructor. The Instructor ground school consists of instructional techniques, preparation and implementation of lesson plans and the use of Transport Canada Flight Instructor Guide, Flight Training Manual. CAR’s Part 4 and Flight Test Standards for Private and Commercial Licenses for Aeroplanes. A pass mark of 70% on the written examination is required. Dual flight instruction will include pilot proficiency and the presentation of all the exercises in the Flight Instructor Guide as well as a minimum of 5 hours training in the teaching of instrument flight skills. The applicant will undergo a flight test with Transport Canada to the standards specified in the Flight Test Standards Guide for Instructors. Classroom instruction is not required however is strongly recommended. Periodic flight briefings may be required. A written examination in Air Regulations, Instrument Flight Rules and Procedures, Meteorology, Instruments, Radio and Radar Systems and Navigation is required along with a flight test conducted by Transport Canada. |
